As in many cities around the world, tuberculosis became a widespread pathology with high mortality rates in Buenos Aires at the end of the 19th century. Physicians and state health agencies were involved from the beginning in the tasks related to its detection, prevention and treatment. e aim of this paper is to analyze the diversity of curative offers available during the last three decades of that century. At times when biomedicine proved incapable of remedying this condition, tuberculosis sufferers made use of other alternatives, ranging from non-medical healing to home medicine.
