At the Atuel river valley, between the Blanco and Malo streams, Lower Jurassic units form a north-south outcrop trend related to a structural high of the basement. The eastern boundary ofthis high is located at the Arroyo Blanco fault, where a backthrust system related to a basement tectonic wedge that moves to the foreland, affects the Cuyo Group. The western boundary is covered at the northern margin ofAtuel river by basaltic flows derived from Cerro Sosneado. However, at the southern margin, basement and sedimentary cover relationships can be observed and then extrapolated to the north. In this work we introduce a detailed structural map of the area, balanced-cross sections and a possible configuration of the basement-cover relationship.
