In this paper, we set out to characterize the conceptions about social inequality in the context of the first years of the 1940s in Argentina, with special emphasis on the crisis of the year 1942. We consider of vital importance the exploration of the close link between the working class and the identities of the left, as well as of the labor movement as a fraction of the former, to better understand this actor in the chosen period. To this end, sources related to the Argentine Communist Party and Socialist Party will be used, as well as others belonging to the General Confederation of Labor, addressed through three axes: the high cost of living, the question of housing and the role of women and childhood. The demands of these structures, the strategies with which they questioned the scenario of economic and social crisis, the readings on the situation of women and their role in social reproduction, are some questions that will articulate the discussions around inequality in the Argentina of those years.
