Fideles regis en el reino visigodo de Toledo: aproximaciones para su estudio desde las prácticas reciprocitarias

Abstract

Es propósito de este trabajo analizar la relación social desarrollada entre los reyes y sus fideles en el reino visigodo de Toledo. Se argumenta que el vínculo entre fideles y reyes es mediado por la búsqueda de beneficios políticos y bienes económicos, entendiendo a este vínculo como un mecanismo de construcción de poder entre hombres libres. Las lógicas de reciprocidad brindan herramientas analíticas para entender la estructura del sistema como totalidad.The Purpose of this paper is to analyze the social relationship developed between the kings and their fideles in the Visigoth kingdom of Toledo. It is argued that the link between fideles and kings is mediated by the quest for political benefits and economics profit, understanding this linkage as a mechanism of construction of power among free men. The logic of reciprocity provides us analytical tools so as to understand the structure of the system as a whole.
