The magazine was linked to the gaucho group “Sociedad Criolla” (Criolla Society) that Dr. Elías Regules had founded just a short time before. Although El Fogón had different sections, we are interested in paying attention to the news, the open letters and the activity reviews that show a link network in gestation. The criollism, the figure of the gaucho, his vindication and rural traditions were topics that were defined and redefined through the pages of the magazine. The article intends to contribute to the study of traditionalism foundational times from a socio-cultural history perspective, focusing more on budding associationism than on the literary derivations of that movement.
