Biological inventories are essential tools for drawing up biodiversity conservation plans. This work represents the inventory of vascular plants present in the Selva Marginal Quilmeña Municipal Reserve, located in the northeast of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the coast of the Río de la Plata. The species found in the study area add up to a total of 431, included into 107 families. 29% of the species are exotic with varying degrees of naturalization in the region. The values of richness and percentage of exotics species of the study area are compared with other protected areas of the south coast of the Río de la Plata. The richness and proportion of exotics of the Selva Marginal Quilmeña Municipal Reserve presents intermediate values between the protected areas located to the northwest (less rich and with a higher proportion of exotics) and the southeast (richer and with a lower proportion of exotics). The role of the processes of abandonment of productive zones and colonization by wild flora in the construction of the current communities of the reserve is discussed.
