The idea of “acedia” was narrowing itself with the passing of the time up to confine itself to what is understood as mere laziness, while up to last Middle Ages it still kept its wider meaning of “sadness in view of the Good”, as we can see in many cases. Even more remarkable is its contrast with the virtue of “eutrapelia”, not in the same level, certainly, but implying an interesting relation.
