In the present paper it will be discussed that the expansion of the capabilities (being understood as opportunities) not only contributes to the development but also to the creative destruction. This generates a virtuous circle or positive feedback between innovation and freedom, while favoring the development of the system through its evolution, which is understood as generalized increases of freedoms. Also, it will be shown that there is a particular type of innovations that change the course of history: those that are exposed to the appearance of "black swans". To this regard, it will be argued - throughout the logic of positive asymmetry - that, even though in this class of innovations the results could not be assured, it is convenient to propitiate them. This position opposes with the current idea that encourages inconsequential innovations (in the sense that they do not change the course of history) but with assured results. Finally, the double virtue of equal opportunities will be shown: not only as a constituent element of social justice but also as a condition for optimizing the mechanism of creative destruction.
