The field of education has nurtured its research in recent years by retaking the voices and practices of teachers and by reconstructing teaching based on their experiences, this allowed the school to be analyzed based on the stories that members tell of them, which at telling them build identities and configure them (Bolívar, 2014). The problem arises when it is intended to resume voices or practices of those who are no longer there and their testimonies are scarce or nonexistent. A series of questions thus arise. What does the narrative approach give us in the (re) construction of the practices and daily experiences of teachers and students who are part of a distant past? How to use the narrative approach in the history of educational institutions? How to (re) build the school culture of a school from narratives that do not exist or are feasible to be formulated? The present work stresses these questions in order to give rise to reflections that put on the table the relationship between the history of education, ethnographic work and the narrative approach.
