Se administró el cuestionario ADHD-Specific Knowledge and Attitudes of Teachers (ASKAT).
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in children. Symptoms are characteristically dysfunctional at the school level, so teachers must have adequate knowledge and attitudes to promote good academic performance of the student with the diagnosis. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationships between the degree of knowledge about ADHD and the attitudes of elementary school teachers in the city of Mar del Plata. A descriptive study was carried out with one group with an ex post facto, retrospective design. The sample consisted of 91 elementary school teachers from the city. The ADHD-Specific Knowledge and Attitudes of Teachers (ASKAT) questionnaire was administered. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between the level of knowledge and teaching attitudes. Furthermore, a positive and significant correlation was observed between the degree of knowledge about ADHD and teacher training, as well as between teachers' attitudes and their experience with students with the disorder. The need to encourage teacher training in ADHD is emphasized since these initiatives benefit educators by expanding their understanding and improving the educational experience of students with the diagnosis, promoting an inclusive classroom environment. In this sense, obtaining empirical evidence contributes to the design and development of teacher training programs.
