Amid the turmoil that characterized the transit from the modernizer cycle to the cycle of political radicalization in Latin America, Mario Corea performed an interesting effort of resistancefrom the specificity of the discipline. Between 1963 and 1974, he proposed big architectural objects able to recover a devaluated urbanity that mutated in line with the diagnosis and the theoretical frames of reference. From a radical critique, even to his own previous positions, he explored group forms, open terminal systems, megastructural nodes, infrastructural architecture and trans-functional design from an “ideological modified base”. In a decade of revolts and glimpses of revolution, his geographical shifts between Boston, Rosario, London and Cordoba enabled him to embody the circulation and intertwining of ideas and representations between “centers” and “peripheries” in the professional and the academic field, displaying the lights and shadows of the cosmopolitan intellectual and, later, of the organic intellectual.
