In this paper we propose a tour that investigates the notion of the quality of stimulus outlined by Freud in the Psychology Project (1895), as a temporal factor. There is an insistence on the texts in which Freud carves the concept of sexual instinct, on linking the qualitative dimension to a temporal character. In The Economic Problem of Masochism (1924) the term “rhythm” delineates the determination of pleasure-displeasure, beyond the quantitative factor. This enigmatic hypothesis is suspended on the margin of the development of the article centred on erogenous masochism and its articulation with the pulsional mixture. However, the operation of pulsional intrincation articulates a temporality. This conjecture is threaded starting from the sequences and detentions of the pulsional becoming, to the times or phases in the fantasy.
