Weber's studies about the process of social rationalization constitute a crucial moment on the theoretical discussion of sociology. His historical analysis of the forms of bureaucratic domination and its effects on subjectivity, society and culture gave shape to a particular way of thinking about the relationship between rationality and power. After Weber's research, many paths were opened around this concept, all of which are very significant for contemporary critical sociology. In this paper I will analyze the drift of his concept of bureaucratic domination in the Frankfurt School, particularly in Adorno's interpretation of it following the transformation of the social world in what he calls administered world. The concept of administered world will allow us to recover Weber's analysis for the present, clarifying through him one of the central motives of the controversy that arose in the critical theory of society regarding the concepts of domination and rationality between Adorno and Habermas.
