This article proposes an analysis of the rodrigazo plan, introduced in June 1975, as a disruptive event that set the stage for a structural transformation of Argentine capitalism during the last military dictatorship. The analysis includes an overview of Argentina’s structural economic problems and the current situation, along with an analysis of the discourse of some business associations during that period. The austerity plan implemented during the third Peronist administration (1973-1976) served as a turning point that allowed economic elites to sideline the industrialization project and begin building a new economic and social order based on financial valorization, the reprimarization of the economy, and the social discipline of the working class and popular sectors.
