The general objective of this paper is to characterize the local agricultural labor market in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. From a critical and sociological perspective, in contrast to the neoclassical view of the labor market, the dynamics of organization, segmentation and hiring that shape this market are explored. The region has a diversified production matrix (vines, fruit and vegetables), which generates an intensive demand for labor and an agricultural calendar in which activities overlap throughout the year. The analysis of recent transformations shows how productive restructuring has promoted labor flexibilization, intermediation and temporary employment, with effects on the conditions and stability of workers. The findings highlight the role of social and migratory networks in the sustainability of labor supply and how labor segmentation influences task allocation, hiring modalities and job quality. We conclude that the Uco Valley functions as a dynamic and segmented local labor market, influenced by its productive structure and social and territorial factors. The methodology combines literature review, qualitative interviews and statistical analysis of secondary data.
