Historically, football has been configured as a privileged practice for the constitution of a hegemonic masculinity. In this way, women and dissidents occupied a marginal and invisible place, both from access to the practice, and in the qualifications to narrate it, direct it and even study it. In this article we seek to problematize this neglect in light of the contributions of a feminist epistemology. We are interested in proposing a box of theoretical/methodological tools to think about football, assuming that it is a transformative political approach. In this sense, we make a brief tour of studies on football that incorporate the gender perspective. Then we contextualize how feminisms have challenged public agendas where soccer was not left out. From this journey we propose the importance of incorporating the feminist perspective to address our object. And finally, we dedicate a section to reflexivity, as a challenge and permanent task before this proposed framework.
