The present work is interested in the cirujas as subjects inhabit and "survive" in / from the edges of Latin American societies. Workers who are trying to recover what is discarded to solve the daily biological-social reproduction are always located in front of the "social abyss". From available secondary sources, the paper is oriented to map the rhythms of collective actions carried out by cirujas in the city of Córdoba, in a period that covers more than four decades. To this end, it makes some theoretical and methodological clarifications in order to base a glance on social conflict, the use of secondary sources, and the possibility of establishing certain rhythms of collective action as an analytical tool. Then it presents a possible periodization of collective action by weighing what is observed, what happens and the meaning that the actors print to action. Finally, we reflect on a possible research agenda that seeks to synthesize some of the readings that emerge from the periodization presented. Keywords: collective action, social conflict, rubbish, identity
