In this article we present an analysis of territorial disputes against the new agri-food system in Paraguay, focusing on the land occupation strategy in the last 30 years. These have become a massive collective action since the 1990s, thanks to which peasant territories were built; faced with the refusal of governments to undertake an agrarian reform. The transformations caused by global land policies and the configuration of the new agri-food system have not only deepened territorial disputes, but also caused new cartographies of social struggles with languages of valuation of common goods. In the first place we point out the characteristics and particularities of the agrarian question in Paraguay, then we analyze the occupations considering them as part of a process of the struggle for land. In a country where economic activity is focused on primary production, with 94% of the land for agricultural use used by agribusiness, 2.6% of the owners concentrate 85.5% of the land, and 91.4% of the peasant population has 6% of the agricultural area (DGGEEC, 2009).
