In this paper provides a synthesis of research in which we have studied the social representation of teachers on different aspects related to teaching and learning of Natural Science, including the content of teaching, the characterization of the learning process and teachers’ expectations regarding the requirements for being a good student of Natural Sciences. Moreover, conducting a comprehensive analysis of the results so far obtained, we observe a mismatch between the valuation of scientific knowledge and skills identified as necessary to learn associated content. These meanings attributed by teachers urge us to further deepen and inquired about the ways they operate in classroom practices.
