This article explores the intersections between the relational ethics of free love and New Age spirituality. My analysis is based on sustained ethnographic fieldwork conducted in 2018 and 2019 in a free-love community located in a coastal city in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. My discussion is organized around three central themes. First, I examine how the community articulates principles commonly associated with New Age spirituality—such as individual autonomy, anti-authoritarianism, and resistance to institutional norms— with the promotion of egalitarian relationships. Second, I analyze how the experience of love is reconfigured through a dual framework of suffering and well-being. Finally, I consider how free love and New Age spirituality converge as part of a broader movement for social change and transformation.
