The design, planning and maintenance of green spaces is key to maximizing the environmental benefits they bring to the population. The aim of this work is to determine the diversity and carry out a diagnosis of the physical and sanitary state of the trees in plazas of Punta Alta, Argentina. For this, a census of the trees was carried out, recording their main characteristics, and identifying their physical and sanitary state, and alpha diversity indices were applied. As a result, it was determined that the Belgrano square was the one with the greatest diversity while in the others a high dominance of the species Cupressus sempervirens L. was observed. The Belgrano square presented more than 50 % of the trees in a good physical and sanitary condition, while in the other plazas, most of the specimens were in a regular state, with cavities, cracks and poorly performed pruning being the main problems.
