This paper examines the pedagogical experiences of Montserrat Dalmases (Spain) and Luis Iglesias (Argentina), two rural teachers who practiced between the 1940s and 1960s. Using a qualitative methodology based on personal interviews, analysis of texts written by the teachers themselves, and secondary sources, key aspects of their pedagogical approaches were identified. The findings show that both developed innovative proposals linked to the New Education movement, adapted to the characteristics of their rural contexts. Dalmases created customized teaching materials and reorganized the school space to promote autonomy and active learning, while Iglesias integrated local content and designed collaborative strategies that connected teaching with agrarian realities. Both teachers faced similar challenges, such as a lack of resources and the inherent difficulties of rural schools, yet they managed to turn these limitations into opportunities for educational innovation. This study concludes that the rural environment fostered the emergence of alternative pedagogical approaches and highlights the need for educational policies that support and value these practices in rural contexts.
