The objective is to analyze the influence of social stratification factors on the inequality of opportunities for graduation from higher education in Argentina and its temporal evolution through age cohorts. We analyze “vertical inequality” linked to the attainment or not of higher education credentials and aspects of “horizontal inequality” according to the type of institution of graduation. A national survey on the Social Structure of Argentina (2021), designed for Argentina (2021), of probabilistic design, with 5,239 cases. The analysis shows that, among the ascribed factors, social class of origin, gender, and ethnicity have their own weight, with social class being the most relevant factor. The exploration through cohorts showed a slight trend towards a decrease in vertical inequality but retained significant class effects; there were also effects of social origin on the type of institutions of graduation, in addition to relevant patterns of horizontal stratification.
