The study of the solar resource is crucial to evaluate the availability of energy and to adequately dimension the technologies for its use. In many regions, such as Northwest Argentina (NOA), which is the focus area of this work, there is no adequate network of meteorological stations to work with direct observational data. Given this limitation, reanalysis databases emerge as a viable alternative. In this context, the development of solar atlases plays an essential role in the drive towards more sustainable energy systems. In this work, based on 24 years of data (2000-2023) from three different reanalysis databases, atlases of the average solar irradiance in the region were elaborated and a comparative analysis was made between these three databases. The results confirm that the NOA has a great solar potential, which makes it a particularly attractive area for the development of photovoltaic energy. The atlas highlights the feasibility of installing solar parks in the region, providing clear information on the optimal areas for renewable energy projects.
