This paper presents the archaeological surveys conducted in the town of San José de Chasquivil, located on the eastern slope of the Cumbres Calchaquíes (Tucumán, Argentina). The aim of this work is to discuss the modes of materialization of pre-Hispanic village landscapes in a study area of study scarcely mentioned in the discipline. For this purpose, we used strategies that included pedestrian routes and records, both analogical —unified record forms, tape measures, compass— and digital —unmanned aerial vehicles, Garmin GPS, mobile GIS—. The results obtained allowed us to characterize a noteworthy village concentration corresponding to the First Millennium CE, with particular characteristics when compared to others in nearby sectors such as Anfama or La Ciénega. Additionally, there were some records from the Second Millennium CE, to lesser extent. Likewise, these results highlight the importance of moving forward with studies in poorly investigated sectors to approach pre-Hispanic social dynamics in all their complexity.
