Abstract

La iniciativa Google Books (Libros Google) se ha transformado en uno de los mejores casos para observar cómo las tecnologías digitales e Internet están cambiando radicalmente el ejercicio y la interpretación de algunos derechos ciudadanos. En el artículo se explora y analiza el caso Google Books (Libros Google) desde un enfoque sociotécnico: sus tensiones jurídico­políticas entre acceder o disponer, las estrategias corporativas de Google Inc. y el diseño de las tecnologías digitales orientadas a la gestión del valor intelectual. El artículo es parte de una investigación mayor que busca contribuir al desarrollo, defensa y protección de los bienes intelectuales comunes.Google Books initiative has become one of the best cases to observe how digital technologies and the Internet are changing radically the exercise and the interpretation of some citizenship rights. In the article we explore and analyze the case Google Books from a socio­technical approach: its legal and political tensions between access and dispose of, the Google Inc. corporate strategies and the design of digital technologies oriented to the management of the intellectual value. The article is part of one major research that seeks to contribute to the development, defense and protection of the intellectual common goods (intellectual commons).
