Sierra Chica it’s a part of mountainous area at the Province of Córdoba, with a southern orientation, limited to the West by the Punilla Valley, and to the East by a piedmont in transition to the Pampean Plain. In the study area it presents a geoform with steep relief on the western slope, and smooth on the eastern one. The metamorphic complex that integrates most of the rocky subsoil has suffered the impact of several tectonic cycles generating fractured, altered and weathered massifs. The geotechnical zoning done allowed the identification and characterization of cartographic units on a regional and detailed scale: Lithological Series, Complexes and Lithological Types. In this last unit, the Geotechnical Types were differentiated, based on the homogeneity of their physical-mechanical properties, which were used to determine the stability of the cuts generated by the construction of the road. The existence of 5,655 square meters of slope surfaces in instability conditions (with safety coefficients less than 1.20) was established; 25,700 square meters of stable surfaces; and 65,500 square meters equally stable, but with a much higher safety coefficient than required by the technical specifications of the road.
