Starting from some of Carl Schmitt’s positions in his writings during the 1920s and 1930s on parliamentarian and constitutional theory, this paper seeks to consider one issue not explicitly formulated by the author but approached in an exploratory manner: people’s feelings, their identity, and recognition in Schmitt’s political theory taking into account the German’s particular understanding of democracy, as well as his understanding of leadership and the problem of representation in this democratic framework. Therefore, the present paper proposes to reinstate those particular Schmittian visions of the mentioned categories and to establish, in the second instance, a preliminary approach to the place that the feelings of the people can occupy within the political theory of Carl Schmitt concerning collective political identities, their recognition, and representation, as well as the question of effect in democratic leadership.
