Its singular landscape with hill woods, its biological diversity, as well as its historical, archeological, and paleontological richness altogether make the Guasayan Hill an interesting potential for multiple use. Rural families devote to agricultural activities in general but to extensive cattlebreeding and dryland agriculture in particular. Most of them are smallholder producers though some important landowners can also be found. This study was aimed at the characterization of this area productive system, both as a diagnosis and as a starting point for multiple use planning. It was performed at Quebrada de Conzo, located in the North of Guasayan Hill. Characterization was based on surveys whose data were processed using statistical approaches such as the Multivariate Analysis, Main Components and Conglomerate. Conglomerate 1A is a “Cattlebreeding and Agricultural System for Selfconsumption and Market;” Conglomerate 2 groups systems linked to the cattlebreeding market and was referred to as a “Cattlebreeding and Agricultural System fot Market and Self-consumption.” The latter, in turn, was subdivided into Subgroup A labeled as “Cattlebreeding and Agricutural System for Market and Self-consumption emphasizing the swine production,” and Subgroup B which is one for Market and Self-Consumption with emphasis on both the cow and goat stock”. Cattlebreeding is on the open land in all the cases. Goat stock is the most numerous and that of highest steadiness. “Secondary” activities such as apiculture and handicraft represent a potential for increasing income.
