Introduction: Exposure to life-threatening situations may display Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which is characterized by: Avoidance of trauma-associated stimuli, the presence of intrusive memories, significant impairment of social life, negative cognitions/mood states, and hyperactivity. In December 2019, a new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) emerged in the city of Wuhan (China) and in just three months it spread worldwide. The COVID-19 pandemic not only caused respiratory and cardiac problems, but also depressive and anxious dysfunctional behavior patterns, affecting mostly young women working in the health sector. Previous data suggest that the development of some emotional skills such as resilience and self-esteem could act by decreasing the vulnerability associated with traumatic events. Objective: To evaluate the factors that could attenuate the impact of the traumatic experience generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodological design consisted of comparing the level of self-esteem and resilience among women with antagonistic degrees of exposure to the virus (Teleworkers vs. Health Personnel). Results: A higher level of Resilience and Self-Esteem was observed in the Health Personnel compared to the Teleworkers. These results would indicate the need to implementinterventions for increasing Resilience and SelfEsteem in teleworkers.
