Cloth not only serves to cover the body to protect it from cold, heat and dirt, but that in turn projects abroad an image of the person. The aim of this article is to describe and analyze the changes and continuities that occurred in female clothing from the late eighteenth and mid-nineteenth. During this period, the apparel and accessories worn by women tended to tame their bodies, hiding and showing parts or emphasizing others. Besides, the cloth was a subject of discourse practice political, social, moral and economic understood to clothing and their uses as essential in the conformation of society.
