In this article, we propose to examine the governmental experiences associated with the radical parties of Córdoba and Santa Fe during the antifascist and anticommunist climate of the late 1930s. In particular, we focus on how the governments of Amadeo Sabattini (1936–1940) and Manuel María de Iriondo (1937–1941) received and reinterpreted antifascism and anticommunism during their respective administrations. Through the analysis of these two contrasting strands of radicalism, we aim to show how international conflicts contributed to shaping their political identities and policies. We understand both administrations as distinct ways of positioning themselves within a national political context increasingly intertwined with the international situation. At the same time, we view them as governments with their own internal dynamics, shaped by locally grounded strategies aimed at influencing their immediate political environments.
