The creation of the Sociedad Argentina de Artistas Plásticos and the Asociación Artistas del Sur meant the implementation of individual and collective practices in relation to space that allowed, since the end of the 1930s, that the centralist representation of Bahía Blanca as “capital de la Patagonia” will recover and gain publicity. Reconstructing these initiatives and interpreting them as symbolic events and instances of sociability allows them to be reinserted into a broad historical process in which the configuration of the public agenda was debated -including the provincialization of the National Territories and regional socioeconomic integration- as well as the definition of an autonomous field for culture. The production of landscape iconography and the development of forms of circulation through the territory are analyzed insofar as they operated effectively in the outline of a territorial sense that naturalized a link built based on specific sectoral interests.
