This paper aims to reconstruct the early operations of the Commercial and Industrial Union of Mendoza (UCIM) between 1918 and 1926. It also seeks to analyze the initial relationships with other provincial and national entities, and to assess whether the association’s demands were addressed by sectoral public policies. The study draws on the analysis of provincial newspapers and specialized publications, particularly the organization’s journal, Comercio e Industria (1920-1926), and the minutes of its Executive Committee (1919-1926). The main contribution of this research is the reconstruction of the trajectory of a centenary institution –still active today– which initially sought to distinguish itself from Mendoza’s winegrowers’ associations, yet in practice engaged in joint actions with them.
