Resumen
Public archaeology faces persistent challenges in engaging audiences beyond academia, and Antarctic archaeology is no exception. While the continent's perceived remoteness and otherness can spark fascination, it often fails to create a personal connection or sense of identification with its cultural dynamics. Most people will never set foot on Antarctica, and historical narratives frequently reinforce this sense of exclusion. This article presents a case study on the use of inclusive narratives and alternative communication methods in Antarctic archaeology projects, exploring their potential to enhance public engagement. By creating sensory and emotional experiences that foster practical knowledge and lasting memories, storytelling and digital technologies may make Antarctica feel more immediate and relevant, encouraging people to actively interpret its past and present. Drawing on the Landscapes in White project, which explores the early history of sealers in Antarctica, the article describes the design of specific outreach activities based on these principles and assesses their initial outcomes and future challenges.
