The article analyzes the construction of Perón’s return to Argentina in 1972 in the magazines Panorama and Siete Días as an event through a comparison of the semiotization operations in each publication (Verón, 1987a). Within the framework of a broader study on the construction of Perón’s Returns (1972, 1973) as events from the perspective of discursive hegemony, the analysis relates the discursive operations surrounding Perón’s return to the reading contracts (Verón, 2001) of each magazine. The results show that the same event is constructed in Siete Días through the spectacle of current affairs, whereas in Panorama, it is interpreted through a historical lens. Additionally, a shared argumentative background is observed, based on common topical elements.
