This paper analyzes the role of the place of residence in determining the academic performance of students in their last year of high school in Argentina. Generalized Ordinal Logistic Regression models are estimated using data from the national programme for student assessment Aprender 2019, finding that the region where the students live affects their probability of achieving a better performance in Language and Mathematics tests. Thus, we conclude that policies aimed at reducing educational inequality cannot ignore the territorial dimension of the problem.
