This article attempts to understand the nature of inflation in Argentina during post-convertibility. Inflation is, in essence, a par- ticular mode of existence of antagonism between capital and labor. The question, then, should be not the causes of inflation but rather what is the framework that enables the social contradictions which are expressed in an inflationary way. The difference between both is a sensitive one, as the causes of rising prices in certain situations can be found in a multitude of events ranging from the distributive struggle to tensions arising out of foreign trade, phenomena that in other contexts do not cause widespread hikes of prices. The paper is part of a long debate on inflation in Argentina that has found in the pages of Realidad Económica a central space for its development and this article tries to be another contribution.
