Objective: Within the realm of non-pharmacological treatments used for stress management and reduction, there are music therapy interventions that combine soothing music perception with vibroacoustic stimulation (MTV). The aim of this study was to investigate the psychophysiological effect of an MTV intervention. Method: To achieve this, the mood, relaxation, and heart rate of a sample of participants from Argentina were evaluated before and after receiving the MTV intervention, comparing these effects with vibroacoustic stimulation conditions versus listening to relaxing music versus listening to a verbal narrative. Results: The results showed that interventions involving musical perception, vibroacoustic stimulation, and their combination induced a greater state of relaxation and perceived lower stress and anxiety, with a pronounced effect from MTV. No differences were found in heart rate, so the subjective results do not follow the same pattern as the physiological measures. Conclusion: The findings of this preliminary study contribute to the background on the subject, expanding knowledge for the use of music therapy interventions in the field of health.
