Paul Karl Feyerabend y Thomas Kuhn en torno al problema del Relativismo: Relativismo o una Metafísica de la Abundancia

Abstract

Existe en nuestros días una abundante bibliografía que se ocupa de las discusiones entre Feyerabend y Kuhn. Frecuentemente, esta literatura presenta una caracterización incompleta y fragmentaria de esta discusión en cuanto que se la analiza únicamente desde una dimensión metodológica. Nuestra tesis es que la crítica de Feyerabend a Kuhn no se limita a señalar que su posición es históricamente falsa o metodológicamente inaceptable. Las observaciones del vienés se ordenan a dar cuenta, en general, de la incapacidad de su colega para definir qué es la ciencia y para superar una visión relativista respecto a la ciencia.

There is today an abundant literature dealing with the discussions between Feyerabend and Kuhn. Often, this literature presents an incomplete and fragmentary view of this debate as it is analyzed only from a methodological dimension. Our thesis is that Feyerabend’s critique to Kuhn’s thesis is not limited to point out that his position is historically false or methodologically unacceptable. Feyerabend’s observations intend to account for the inability of his colleague to define what science is and to overcome a relativistic vision for science.
