This article proposes an overview of the pages of the most influential newspaper in the Argentine north-Patagonia to identify meaning displacements that operated in its editorial line around the conception of development and integration and the way in which these changes were projected onto the signifier "Chile". The period analyzed begins with the creation of the ALALC in 1960 and ends in 1996 with the inclusion of Chile as a country associated with Mercosur. They were years marked by the passage from the predominance of developmental thought, in all its variants, to the hegemony of neoliberal globalization, which makes it an extremely significant period to analyze the discursive changes of a newspaper that gives an account of the central debates of its time as one of its distinctive features.
