On October 30, 1983, for the first time in unrestricted elections, Peronism was defeated, both nationally and in the province of Buenos Aires, the traditional stronghold of that political force, by the Radical party. The purpose of this work is to analyze the reorganization process that the Justicialista Party carried out on the eve of that election, focused on the province of Buenos Aires. In this regard, the candidate selection devices were considered in particular, both the lists that were presented in the legislative bodies and in the communal spaces, trying to characterize the formal or informal norms that regulated the process and the criteria that were imposed. In the same way, an attempt was made to determine the insertion of women in the integration of candidate lists, based on the traditional presence that women assumed in Peronism, and to contribute to the knowledge of Peronist political personnel in times of democratic transition.
