Intercultural reflections on digital-carnalities in dance

Abstract

We propose an intercultural reflection based on the dialogue between two scenes lived during the pandemic: The digital messages that I received from indigenous artists from the Argentine Chaco, and my experience as a dancer-teacher-researcher in Buenos Aires, during social isolation. We will examine the performative efficacy of dance in relation to health and well-being, and we will explore some hypotheses about its role in the context of an emerging digital-carnality, the result of the intensified use of online multimedia devices.

Proponemos una reflexión intercultural a partir del diálogo entre dos escenarios vividos durante la pandemia: Los mensajes digitales que recibí de artistas indígenas del Chaco argentino, y mi experiencia como bailarina-docente-investigadora en Buenos Aires, durante el aislamiento social. Examinaremos la eficacia performativa de la danza en relación con la salud y el bienestar, y exploraremos algunas hipótesis sobre su papel en el contexto de una carnalidad digital emergente, resultado del uso intensificado de dispositivos multimedia en línea.
