The historical event known as the Conquest of the Desert is the expression that has been used to refer to one of the first genocides implemented by the Argentinian State against the indigenous people between 1878 and 1885 to justify their persecution, dispossession, forced relocation, imprisonment and massacre. Likewise, the execution of one thousand five hundred workers during la Patagonia Rebelde constitutes another genocide act led by the Military, under the government of Hipólito Yrigoyen and the complicity of the landowners in 1921 and 1922. Both events are genocides conducted by the National State, whose victims were indigenous people, even though the latter fact has not been particularly investigated. This article delves into the representation of these events in the literary production of the mapuche author Liliana Ancalao (2014, 2020). From her work, we investigated how these memories acquire shapes and traits that characterise them as underground (Pollak, 2003) or post-memory (Hirsch, 2021). Within this framework, we will take into account the concept of oraliture (Chihuailaf, 2000), the importance of the memories and the contributions of literary studies about this work.
