This study examines the integration of physicochemical concepts and information-seeking skills in the context of health risks associated with piercings and tattoos. Objective:To enable students to develop skills for searching and selecting scientific literature that would allow them to access reliable material on body art practices and their health implications, and to apply and integrate physics and chemistry concepts in this analysis. Methods:A remote synchronous workshop was conducted with 606 first-year dentistry students at the National University of Córdoba as part of the course Introduction to Biological Physics and Chemistry “A” during the 2022 academic year. Students were trained in critical bibliographic search strategies on the web and applied course concepts to the analysis of piercings and tattoos. Results:Participants actively explored scientific literature databases and popular information sources to compare publication types and their implications. They were able to apply and transfer disciplinary knowledge acquired in the course, which was evidenced in their individual final assignments. Conclusions:Students recognized the importance of developing criteria for selecting reliable sources and learning to interpret chemical safety data sheets for the proper handling of substances. The workshop also encouraged reflection on informed decision-making regarding practices that involve personal physical integrity.
