In recent years, the world alert has been lit for the ineffectiveness of the antibiotic treatments used in bacterial infections in the community and in hospitals; associated with ineffective or depressed people, such as competent patients. Bacteria have acquired multiple mechanisms over time to evade the action of antibiotics, favored by the inappropriate and excessive use of antimicrobial agents in both human and veterinary clinics. Bacterial resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics or multi-resistance (MDR) is a growing and complex public health problem on a global level, causing high rates of morbidity and mortality, with currently limited therapeutic options. In this sense, the development of new antimicrobial therapies, which can provide solutions to this framework of multi-resistance, are technologies that are widely studied, which use resources that prevent the development of resistance mechanisms. Areas such as bionanotechnology, through the synthesis of nanomaterials, and photodynamic therapies using of photosensitizing agents, are dedicated to the antimicrobial treatment of multi-resistant pathogens. This chapter raises this problem and possible therapies, approached from a multidisciplinary perspective of different research groups.
