This paper analyzes the medicalization process of children’s sexuality in Buenos Aires, in the early 1940s. It focuses on the diagnosis and treatments of adipose genital syndrome implemented in the psycho-neuro-endocrinology clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Buenos Aires city. This space gained relevance not only because of the prestige of the XVII Room where it had place, but also because of its experts, who were founders of the local Psychoanalytic Association and the Argentinean Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Taking up some ideas from Gender Studies, this work aims to problematize the medical-scientific intervention in the construction of sexuality and how some cultural conceptions about parenting, family and gender behavior mediated on biomedical knowledge and practices. A documentary corpus of edited medical sources allows to reconstruct the scientific approach on published cases and clinical records.
