Forty years after the beginning of democracy in Argentina, the triumph of a radicalized right-wing force raises questions about the strength and quality of the system. This paper attempts to examine this question in two steps. The first step explores how the di!erent right-wing traditions from the early twentieth century to the beginning of the twenty-first century related to each other and to liberal democracy. The second shows that in recent years there has been a dynamic of convergence and radicalization of right-wing families that has enabled the emergence of a political ethos with Jacobin undertones and in tension with the pluralist principles of liberal democracy.
