On these pages you will find an invitation to reflect about the ethnographic work from a research experience in men's prisons in the province of Buenos Aires. In dialogue with classical anthropology, we want to problematize the production of ethnographic knowledge from a commitment perspective, locating the multiple roles that we can have in a territory as teachers, researchers and activists. The article proposes to think of prisons as a propitious territory to articulate these different dimensions and roles. In addition, reflections are proposed regarding the route travelled in the field, the articulation of different dimensions that make the field work and the passage through the prison like “putting the body” to different circumstances and, from there, build knowledge while intervening in such a particular place. Far from reaching certainties, this work introduces some inquiries and reflections to open dialogue and discussion.
