From a social history approach in order to contribute to the debate and knowledge of a core problem in the analysis on the world of work and the labor movement, the article analyzes the protests developed by trade associations and worker centers in Tucumán between late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The analysis of this issue, sparsely explored by historians for the period and space addressed in this research revealed the influence of the demands of workers against employers and government to achieve labor rights. By mid- 1910s, concerns arising from excessive increase in the cost of living and rising unemployment led workers, led by the socialist movement, to convene demonstrations and rallies, in a context marked by the impact of the World War I.
